August 20, 2012 A Sackfull of Rambutan
A sackfull of rambutan awaits us as we were unloading our things from todays escapade and roadtrip from GenSan and Sarangani. It was harvested from the rambutan trees around Sir Ian's house. They have plenty of fruit bearing trees around which include lanzones trees. It was my first time also to see a live lanzones tree with soon to be ripe fruits. So what do you do with those rambutans? You guessed it right. Eat it. We ate half of the harvest leaving around 5kilos of it which we brought back to Surigao the following day.
August 21, 2012 Vacations Over
Morning came and it was our last day in South Cotabato. Before breakfast, Homer and I had the chance to go to the town hall and park. I accompanied him for a money transfer service at the market area. There we were giving us the time to check out the town.
The town hall is surrounded by towering coniferous trees. Atop the main façade was a roof similar to the onion like designs of mosque minarets.
The playground was located on one side of the town hall.
The Long Journey Home
We didn't spent much time at the town hall grounds. We went back to Sir Ian's house to join the rest for breakfast. By 10AM we were taken to the bus terminal where we waiting the one going to GenSan. The bus came and we travelled again the familiar highway.
We transferred to a bus going to Davao by 11AM as soon as we arrived at GenSan bus terminal. It was a 3hr trip of playfulness and sleeping.
We arrived in Davao bus terminal past 3PM. Sine the Tacloban bound bus that we plan to ride with had an ETD 5PM schedule, we spent an hour of late lunch and last minute buying of take out dinner on the bus stopover at Tagum.
August 22, 2012 Back to Work
Since the bus we rode from Davao is Tacloban bound, we did not have to transfer again to another bus in Butuan. I already had two bus transfers since we left Tupi. At 330AM, we hailed a multicab which took us to Surigao city center. By then our service bus wasn't around yet so we went to have a hot choco on the nearby Jollibee store. Soon our service arrive and we each have our seats. We spent the whole trip sleeping for we still reported to work that day. As soon as we arrived at campsite by 615AM, we ran to our rooms, had a quick shower and changed to uniform. That was a quickest time I had to prepare for work considering that work starts by 7AM. Service was waiting outside so we had to hurry up everything.
Now I'm back to reality. I'm back at work revising stack high documents. But above everything else, I had a wonderful trip with the coolest guys at the office. And I just had an amazing race style adventure.

Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white – Mark Jenkins
