Having spent my restday at the city, I learned that Grace and Odette will travel to Manila with the same date as that of the departure of my Ilocano friends in Palawan. Upon seeing them at work, I told them that I spend the last few days with some of my friends whose leaving Palawan for good. During our conversation, they told me that if I had spent time with Emerson, Oliver and Grieza in Puerto Princesa, why not join them in their flight to Manila since they were leaving Palawan for a better endeavour. Grace proposed that I file for emergency leave to accompany them (much more like an envoy) and bond for one more time in Manila. At first I was hesitant since I could not think of a reason for my leave. Grieza convinced me to go with the plan. I was able to convince my superior and had my leave form signed as soon as I gave him my leave application form. At the back of my mind, I will just watch the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. To cut the story short, I accompanied them to Manila with Grace doing the last minute booking.

February 26, 2011 Island Adventure in Southern PalawanIt was another long restday for our shift. Our team leader. Ariel, suggested we go to Birds Island since he has not been there. So we made our arrangements and preparations for the trip. The idea was also opened up to the other section to cut down expenses.
Waking up early on a restday was so hard. Those who will be coming from the dorm was fetched at 530AM as agreed. Spid, Orlando and Dexter came in so early. After we took some stuffs for the trip, we went to the ladies dorm to check Terh and Tiffa. Soon came our ride going to the pier where we waited for other shiftmates. The tricycle we rode stop by somewhere at the piersite village where we walked a few meters towards the pier. I think we got there so early that we saw passenger boats (Balabac bound) preparing for their trip. There was this coast guard station also at the pier where we waited for the others. November 16, 2010 Wandering in Puerto PrincesaI have always been close to my fellow Ilocano's and kababayans. So when the time that some of them sought greener pastures, I spent most of the remaining time travelling with them. When Grieza and Emerson said that we go to Puerto Princesa, I was hesitant at first since I had to decide to spend my restday at the city or not. Lucky they were since they were just spending the remaining leave credits they had. Since we also have a new Ilocano co-employee that time, we tagged him, Lester, to explore the city. The day came for our travel to the city. During the 5hr trip, we learned by text message that Oliver spent his restday in the city. We checked in at Circon Businessman Inn since it offer affordable rates and it was located at the city center. After we checked in, we decided what to do the following day. Grieza and I wanted to go to Dos Palmas. Emerson wanted to visit the underground river since he had been to Dos Palmas. Grieza and I had been to the underground river previously when Emerson and Lester had not relocated yet in Palawan. Lester was caught in the middle, either way he can choose any trip. In the end, Emerson won in the battle of persuation. Oliver later met us at the halls of the Circon. We asked him to join us the following day but he wanted to do some photography shoots around the city. We were not able to convinced him so we had a four pax reservation for an underground river tour with the help of the inn receptionist.
September 2, 2010 Spelunking at Tabon Cave ComplexA visit to the Tabon complex requires a permit to be secured from the National Museum Quezon, Palawan Branch. The permit costs PhP20 per person and personal appearance was required. Those were the information we gathered from the museum that day before. Prior to the visit, we had already arranged a boat amounting to PhP1300 for a group of 9 persons. Good thing, one our group is JR who had connections on the quiet coastal town. Travelling from Rio Tuba, we endured a 4hr motor ride to Quezon. Except for Mael whose own family resides in the area, the rest of us rented two rooms for spending the night over. We found a cheap one near the water station beside the bridge. Thanks again to JR'c connections. So the following day, we secured first the permit by paying a visit at the National Museum.
June 7, 2010 A Day at Ursula IslandOne of the perks of my work assignment in Palawan is being able to visit its isolated beautiful islands. Docking from the west side of Ursula Island after almost two hours of boat ride from Rio Tuba in southern Palawan, the feeling was priceless. It's just us and nature. Locally known as Birds Island, it is an uninhabited island but a haven to thousands of migratory birds that usually flock during sunset hours. If you are lucky enough, sea turtles can also be seen. From the internet, I found out that the island was declared as Palawan’s Game Refuge and Bird Sanctuary through Presidential Proclamation No. 14 on April 30, 1960. Now I have a reason why the island is so much protected by locals.
It was our restday and we spent it by having a picnic at the island. As soon as we set foot, some us went straight into the water to swim in the clear and calm waters around. November 1, 2008 A Private Getaway on a Paradise IslandThe best thing about commissioning a plant is that you get to travel places during holidays. Thanks to the Process B peeps for tagging me to their shift restday getaway to one of Palawan's secluded paradise. We left Rio Tuba by 2PM in a van and dropped by Narra, Palawan. We immediately went to the market to buy food and other items we will be using for the overnight stay in Isla Arena. We rode a tricycle that brought us to the port area. And by 5PM, we were already aboard a boat to Isla Arena.
